Memories…

Memories are the only remnants of the things we’ve lost, yet the sad reality is that even memories are temporary. Memories fade just as everything else does.

So may you cherish these moments for they will not last forever. Cherish your memories because soon enough they will just be the distant cloudy remains of a past life that is no longer real to you.

If Only…

If Only…
Memories keep replaying in my mind.
I miss the moments, the love we could’ve shared.
I wish we could have had a little more time,
Because then you would have seen how much I cared.

No one can see that I’m slowly falling.
It gets lonely out here so please don’t go.
I smile at you like I wasn’t just bawling,
It’s hopeless this happy front is just for show.

I’d have all I need if only you chose me.
I want you, but I can’t wait forever.
I’m not going to beg down on my knees.
You will forget me but I will never.

So sure you felt the same, but I’m not sad.
How can you miss something that you never had?

Pride Analysis

The invisibility of the cracks in the rocks foster the illusion of permanence—a false pride of perfection and durability. If the cracks were obvious, the rocks would appear imperfect, weak and at the mercy of the elements. The poem refers to a stubborn pride, impervious and unfeeling.

The poet is comparing this with the way that a person can be hurt and never show it; but their internal damage is such that at some later date they may suddenly crumble.

The poet chose a seal to catalyze the crack—the most natural and innocuous-seeming creatures, feelings, or things can have an effect when opposed to stubborn elements.

The poet thinks people are rock-like and that people must be adaptable or they, too, will break. Rocks in their motionless state seem safe and people sometimes stagnate under a similar illusion of security.

You have almost certainly known people who seemed to be able to deal with what life threw at them, but then suddenly and unexpectedly ‘went to pieces’. This is what the poem is talking about.

Pride

I tell you, even rocks crack,

and not because of age.

For years they lie on thier backs

in the heat and the cold,

so many years,

it almost seems peaceful.

They dont move, so the cracks stay hidden.

A kind of pride.

Years pass over them, waiting.

Whoever is going to shatter them

Hasn’t come yet.

And so the moss flourishes, the seaweed Whips around,

the sea pushes through and rolls back—

The rocks seem motionless.

Till a little seal comes to rub against them,

comes and goes away.

And suddently the rock has an open wound.

I told you, when rocks break, it happens by surprise.

And people, too.

Old Friends

You can’t make old friends.

When I heard this it really hit me deep. I didn’t expect such power from such a simple phrase. These five words really made me think… You. Can’t. Make. Old. Friends… It is very true.

So, cherish the relationships you have, for old friends can never be replaced. Old friends are a part of our childhood, our memories; old friends are the ones who’ve shaped us, who’ve grown with us. You might be able to make new friends, but you’ll never forget the old friends you’ve had along the way.

Someday…

Sometimes you just have to hold onto the belief that everything works out the way it’s suppose to. ❤

“I believe that everything happens for a reason. People change so that you can learn to let go, things go wrong so that you appreciate them when they’re right, you believe lies so you eventually learn to trust no one but yourself, and sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.”
— Marilyn Monroe

“Someday, everything will make perfect sense. So for now, laugh at the confusion, smile through the tears, be strong and keep reminding yourself that everything happens for a reason.”
— John Mayer

The Choice

Happiness is an emotion that can come and go very quickly or stick around for a little while; it all depends on the situation and its circumstances. Nevertheless, I believe that it mostly depends on us, whether we really want that happiness to stay or not. We might all say that we do, but then something happens and we sort of just lose that happiness. Yet, I think we can choose to keep it longer if we really want to. But, that means we can’t let other circumstances affect us negatively, because that’s where the problem begins. We can choose to be happy no matter what happens however, it can be a very difficult choice. And sometimes that choice comes with sacrifice, but often times when you really look at it, that sacrifice is worth it. Though there will always be things that can temporarily rob us of happiness, we always have the choice to change the situation and bring back that happiness.

But, sometimes looking at things from this perspective can be hard. Even though we have the choice, it doesn’t make it easier. Choosing happiness is hard, and the sacrifices that come with that can make or break a person. So, rather that focusing on choosing happiness, try looking at it as thinking positively. Finding the good in a bad or broken situation. We can’t choose how we feel, but we can choose how we think about the situation. Instead of focusing so much on being happy, we should be focusing on how we can make the most of our lives. And that means embracing the happy with the sad, the triumph with the failure, and each and every moment of our lives, because they are what define us.

Living Life And Moving Forward

“The past is a place of reference, not a place of residence.”

“Don’t let anyone tell you how to live your life.”

“Lost time is never found again.”

“Sometimes you will never know the value of a moment until it becomes a memory.”

“In the end, it’s not the years in your life that count. It’s the life in your years.”

“When a thing is done, it’s done. Don’t look back. Look forward to your next objective.”

“There are many ways of going forward. But only one way of standing still.”

“The two most important days in your life are: the day you are born and the day you find out why.”

“Don’t take life too seriously. You’ll never get out of it alive.”

“It is the province of knowledge to speak, and it is the privilege of wisdom to listen.”

“Take into account that great love and great achievements involve great risk.”

Only when we are forced to see things for ourselves, does it become real for us.
