“Whoever controls the media, controls the mind.”
– Jim Morrison
This is so true and just scary to think about. The media does control our minds, especially the youth. Young people are growing up in a world where there is a database telling them what to think, how to act, what is cool, what is not, who to love, who to hate, what to be, what to look like, etc.

Things like this can be so dangerous. All these kids are now growing up with body issues and self-confidence issues, they have to see what they’re not and what they don’t have everyday. They have to grow up in a world where there is constant comparison.

Databases control our thinking in a more literal way as well. The internet, with all these search engines, is tailored to each and every person individually; it collects data on them and only presents them with what it thinks they’ll like. It controls our information, it controls the way we receive our information, and it controls how we distribute our information.

Not saying that all media is bad, if you use it the right way it can be good. Nevertheless, we have to acknowledge the ever present negative effects that it has on our youth, and society as a whole.

Yeah there are negatives everywhere accompanied by a few merits like developing a good camaraderie among people that is socialising which is in a way lethal as well.
Pleasure to read this one!💙🙂

I just deleted the Instagram app on my phone this morning. I haven’t used it since 2017 up until a coupe month ago because other bloggers regularly use it. After three major strikes of self-doubt, feelings of inadequacy, and negative feelings over the last couple of months thus triggering my depression, I decided to delete the app off my phone.
I will be deleting flickr soon. I was using it for free and didn’t have an issue but now they are making me pay to access my photos. After I shell out money for a month’s access to download my photos, I will be deleting Flickr. Companies have gotten way too greedy. 🙄

I am so sorry you had to experience that! Social media provides a platform for such brutal comparison. The constant viewing of how much better someone else has it than you, whether that be in looks, materials, or “friends”, can foster that sense of self-doubt. Deleting it was the best choice. It is always a good thing to remove the source of those types of negative feelings. It helps you free yourself and brings you back to the love that surrounds you 😊
And I very much agree that companies have gotten greedier and a lot more manipulative. They get away with so much 😔🤔
Thank you for sharing your experience! ❤ ❤ 😊 lots of love

Those with agendas sensationalise and the repercussions can be detrimental. Which is we we need to be judicious and non judgemental and think for ourselves.
