poem by: Hope Seibert
Never mind
Why even try?
What’s the point?
Shadows of expectation;
Living up to perfection.
Shouldn’t everyone
Be immaculate?
Never make mistakes!
Never say yes!
Never say no!
So confused;
Didn’t get it.
How can we
Love life
When so restricted?
Too many rules!
They say you can’t.
But we can!
Well you shouldn’t.
Say we’re free
But are we really?
Restricted by society
And their opinions.
People subjected,
Objectified;
Never given a chance.
Prejudice stronger
Than written law.
But they argue
Free speech.
Outside forces
Giving their opinion
Where it shouldn’t
Have any place.
Back off!
You should be happy.
Are you happy?
No not really.
But you look it.
Looks can be deceiving.
The facade is crumbling;
It’s over.
Now you all
Got what you wanted!
Didn’t you?
Shameful it is
This world
We live in.
So cruel,
Not the world itself
But its creatures.
